Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it in conjunction with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the song Backseat along with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was also released on September 5th. Then, in November, she released two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album of the same name. In February 2019 her music video to the track was launched. The song has received over 3 million YouTube views in just one week. As a supporting act She toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
